The toys

Hasbro's Lightsaber Forge sabers come in four parts: a blade, a cap, a cover and a core. Every piece fits every other saber in the line, so a second saber means parts to swap between them.

The Mandalorian and Grogu came out in theaters on May 22, and the Anzellan Starship is from the movie. It's the freighter the tiny Anzellan droidsmiths fly. Lift off the roof and there's a workshop sized for them, with tools, droid parts, a battle droid to put together and Grogu's blue cookies.

The N-1 is the Naboo starfighter from The Phantom Menace, which Peli Motto rebuilt for Din Djarin in The Book of Boba Fett. LEGO's Ultimate Collector Series version is 1,809 pieces and 26.5 inches long, and the nose uses drum-lacquered silver pieces for the chrome.

On the Force FX Elite, the blade comes off so the hilt can sit on its stand by itself. Buttons on the hilt run ignition, battle clash, wall-cutting and blaster deflect sounds.

The Ultimate Grogu is life-size, 14.6 inches tall, with 18 motorized joints and more than 250 animations. He tilts his head toward you when you talk, and his cookie accessory sets off eating and burping sounds. Hasbro is taking pre-orders now, and the standard edition ships around April 1, 2027.

The games

Star Wars Villainous is Ravensburger's game where every player is a bad guy. You pick Darth Vader, Kylo Ren, General Grievous, Asajj Ventress or Moff Gideon, and each has a different goal. Vader's is to defeat Luke Skywalker.

Star Wars: Unlimited is Fantasy Flight's trading card game. The Icons Starter Box has two ready-to-play 30-card decks led by Darth Vader and Leia, and it's meant as a starting point for new players.

The 1977 IOU

Star Wars opened in May 1977, and Kenner couldn't make the toys in time for Christmas. So a Kenner executive, Bernard Loomis, came up with the Early Bird Certificate Package: a $7.99 cardboard envelope with a display stand, stickers, a fan club card and a certificate to mail in for Luke, Leia, R2-D2 and Chewbacca, delivered sometime between February and June 1978. Kenner capped it at 500,000 and stopped selling them on December 31, 1977. One still complete with its certificate sells for about $4,000 to $8,000 now.

The books and the record

Heir to the Empire came out in 1991, after about four years with almost no new Star Wars. It hit #1 on the New York Times list and introduced Grand Admiral Thrawn and Mara Jade. Zahn also made up the name Coruscant for the capital planet, and George Lucas used it in the prequels.

The Making of Star Wars is built on interviews Lucasfilm's Charles Lippincott did with the cast and crew before, during and right after the first movie, for a book that never happened. J.W. Rinzler found them in the Lucasfilm archives decades later, after Steve Sansweet suggested he look for the Lippincott interviews.

Ralph McQuarrie designed Darth Vader, Chewbacca, R2-D2 and C-3PO, and his concept paintings helped Lucas get 20th Century Fox to approve the movie. The Abrams set is two volumes and 800 pages, with more than 2,000 of his illustrations and a foreword by Lucas.

John Williams recorded the score with the London Symphony Orchestra over eight sessions in March 1977. The double album became the best-selling symphonic album of all time, and the Library of Congress added it to the National Recording Registry in 2004.

Places to go

Savi's Workshop is in Star Wars: Galaxy's Edge at Disneyland and Disney World. You pick one of four hilt themes and a kyber crystal (blue, green, violet or red), build the hilt from the parts, and they attach it to a 31-inch blade. It's $274.99 at Disney World, and park admission is separate either way.

George Lucas and Mellody Hobson's Lucas Museum of Narrative Art opened in Los Angeles on September 22. Its Star Wars in Motion exhibition has vehicles, props, costumes and art from the first six movies, including Luke's landspeeder and the first physical build of General Grievous's wheel bike. Everyone needs a timed ticket, including kids, who get in free.

Orchestras around the country put on nights where they screen one of the movies and play the whole score live under it. Symphony San Jose, for example, is doing A New Hope in April 2027. Check your local symphony's season.

In conclusion

The list above copies straight into a new WishPoster list with the Double Sunset theme: two suns going down over a desert. Or start one from scratch for the Star Wars fan in your house.
